Toddler Food Rut

Ya know, it was soooo much easier to shop and cook when I was was childless! I'm not picky, I'll eat most things. But planning meals now has become such a chore and finding food for my seriously "picky" eater that will actually be eaten is a challenge. So...... does anyone have any suggestions for meals (breakfast, lunch or dinner) that are winners with their toddlers? Or even ways to serve the food that is more fun or interesting, tempting them to at least try it? Any tricks or games used? I'll listen to anything, I'm plum out of ideas and I'm running on empty right now!

I know exactly how you feel! Pickiness doesn't make things easy, and I feel like we eat a lot of the same things over and over. Brian and I are big on variety and at this stage...they are so not!

Will loves flour tortillas so I make quesadillas with chicken and/or cheese often, and sometimes I put a little grated carrot in there, too. Or sandwich rollups, just meat and cheese. With Sean and Will we have a lot of "deconstructed" sandwiches, which is just the deli meat, cheese and bread torn up. Baked tyson chicken tenders and rice seem to go over well. Sunflower butter and jelly on english muffins, diced hot dog and scrambled eggs with cheese, Mini bagel pizzas, pasta with grated cheese and ham bits, pancakes with mini chocolate chips and grated zucchini......the only veggie Will will eat is canned green beans, but he never notices the zucchini 'cause he focuses on the chocolate. On a particular bad night, if I can get a cup of yogurt and some fruit in 'em, I call it success.

Hope these help!

Perhaps this is a Debbie Downer, but there was absolutely nothing fancy we could do for Kev when he was in the "no way, no how" or the time of his life when eating was close to impossible. We tried it all. The only thing that worked was the good ol' fashioned way of presenting the food often and hoping for the best. NOW, Kev will hide peas in potatoes, or pieces of meat in something else. He never ate it if we tried that though. He's still a work in progress, but with him, no games, bribery, or anything works. Not sure if that makes you feel better or worse. :) Love ya guys!

thank you! great ideas. i actually had flour tortilla's here and i made her a very simple one with just cheese...... and she actually ate some of it! score! another food to add to the list! i hear you, i am so sick of eating the same things with her, and if i don't, i am a short order cook. i liked all those ideas and will definitely try them with her. thanks :)

and karen, i hear you, it's not like tricks or bribery have gotten us very far either, lol! :) you never know though, sometimes i can do something as simple as serving something in a new dish and it will be enough to get her to at least taste it. sometimes :)
