Chris + Coffee + Good Times

So yesterday, Chris came down to visit for the afternoon, it was so good to see him. Like old times, going for yummy Starbucks together.  Christopher and I were roommates for awhile way back when. And what a roommate he was! I could write post after post of all the pranks he pulled. One time, I came home after a long, stressful day at work and sat down on my bed and ....... the bed wasn't soft like it usually was, it felt hard. Come to discover, Chris had switched my box spring and mattress and made the bed back up. Or all the times he would steal my cell phone and set the alarm for 3 am. Or switch my cell phone to another language, making it practically impossible to do anything on it or find a way to switch it back to English. Or the time he found my password to my voicemail and changed my outgoing message to something ridiculous. And here's a good one: he switched the names on my phone list one time, so that when I thought I was calling him, I was actually calling this guy I had a crush on (don't worry, it was pre-John). I think he was in danger of bodily harm on that one. I could go on, but a lot of those stories require explaining. Like, if I started out the next example with "Chris used to pretend he was a cheetah....." it would sound just too weird, so I'll stop here! Ah yes..... Chris had what I called "boundary issues". Yes, yes, funny boy. :)  Makes for great stories now, not as funny then! Ah..... good times..... Thanks for the visit, Chris!

Ok, one more....

First of all, blogging is addicting. :) Secondly, I know some of you may think this new video is pretty similar to the other two videos of Sadie "talking". But its SO different- this time she is in her bath towel! Awwwww!!! Sorry, I can't help myself.....

Grillin' and Strawberry Pickin'

The weekend was a fun, summery one. Perfect start to the first official weekend of summer. Allison and Ed (or otherwise known as Auntie Allie and Uncle Eddie) came over Saturday to grill hot dogs and hamburgers with us- thank you Ed for doing the grilling! :) We had never used the grill or the patio downstairs and no one else was using it, so it was great. We had a fun time with them and Sadie really enjoyed being outside too. Got to eat the entire dinner and relax with some Corona's, Guinness, and some Mikes Hard Lemonade (mmmm...), and she just coo'd, smiled, and had a good time looking around at the trees over head the whole time. Grilling is something we'll have to do more of, it worked out so well with Sadie. I guess I better start watching a lot of Bobby Flay to get some tips. Or just have Ed and Al over a lot. :)

We also went to Sweet Berry Farm and pick our own strawberries. We do this every year, the strawberries are amazing. You don't realize how good fresh fruit tastes until you actually get really fresh fruit. It kicks Stop and Shops butt. And its fun to pick the berries yourself. We are going to try to go a lot this summer to pick our own berries, peaches, apples, etc. Plus they have a little market there to buy fresh veggies, homemade pies and cookies, ice cream, etc. Its addicting when you go there, you just start salivating and want to buy everything in the store.

On a side note, the house next door is being worked on and all the yelling, hammering,  and sawing keeps waking Sadie up! grrrr....

Our other kids

I can't believe Owen and Bean haven't gotten any blog time! Don't worry, we haven't forgotten about them, they are after all, our first borns. Its just the newest member of our family takes up quite a bit of time and attention! It used to be all our pictures were of the cats sleeping, the cats playing, the cats looking cute... boy, things have changed! Sadie's older brothers have been adjusting pretty well to their new sister. So far anyways, all the worrying we did about the cats being aggressive to her seem to be for nothing because they really don't pay much attention to her at all! When we first brought her home, they hated all the crying so if Sadie was in the living room, they placed themselves as far as possible from the noise. Now they are fine being around her, although I am sure once she can crawl and pull tails, that will change! One problem we've had is that baby toys and cat toys are extremely similar. Like, the bouncer is a perfect cat bed to them. Rattles mysteriously end up under the bed. Before Sadie was born, we found Bean in the crib batting the mobile. You get the idea. Ah, kitties.... you gotta love 'em.

For your viewing pleasure

The people have asked for more videos and more videos they shall have! Ok, by people, I mean Nana Cain mostly. The first is another cute video of her "talking" to us while she kicks in her crib. The second is her during tummy time. Usually Sadie hates tummy time and just cries in frustration the second you put her on her tummy, not that I can blame her, that is a heavy little baby head. But she seems to enjoy it more now and she's really adorable on her little tummy. Check out that hair! :) So, enjoy!

Dude....

Do we have a future surfer girl here?? I think so, look at that form! She'll be surfing at Second Beach before we know it! Yup, that is a surf board coffee table- pretty cool, huh?!? We stopped by Johns office yesterday to say hello, and it was a good excuse to put on a cute new outfit courtesy of Grandma Lorraine and Grandpa John- pink and white seersucker overalls! Adorable! She sooo fits into Newport now. Get her some mini boat shoes and she'll be all set. We also got a family picture taken, its actually the first we have!

Sadie is approaching 3 months old, which is completely unbelievable. It doesn't seem possible that she could be that old so quickly! I saw some 2 week old babies the other day and they were soooo tiny, I thought to myself that Sadie couldn't have been that small when we brought her home, but she was. She has grown so much. So here are some pictures of the little Peanut at 11 weeks old....

Happy Father's Day!

This weekend was John's first Dad's Day! Still a little odd we celebrated both Mother's Day and Father's Day this year as real parents, as opposed to just kitty parents. We had a good weekend together, enjoying the nice weather out on Saturday, going out for a yummy breakfast at a cute little place near our apartment, and attempting to go out for dinner. I say attempting because we only got through part of the meal and then Sadie decided that Yesterday's was not where she wanted to be! So, got the meal to go, paid the check, quickly got the crying little Spud to the car...... and by the time we got home.... yup, you guessed it, Sadie was fine!

Besides celebrating Father's Day for the first time, another big thing happened. For the first time in about a year, I had a drink!! Yup, you heard right, a whole year. I checked with the doctor to make sure I could have a drink without it affecting Sadie and she said, yup, go ahead! So my first drink was an ice cold Stella. The downside of this was due to the aforementioned restaurant episode.... I only got to drink about a quarter of it! Ah well.... next time! Look how happy I am!

Little Spud got to spend some quality time with her daddy this weekend, here is a shot of them napping together on the couch....awwww..... Sadie is a lucky girl to have such an amazing father!

Play Dates and Sadie Talk

So Sadie had her first play date! Ok, so I use the term "play" loosely. It was more like "sit in their strollers and look adorable" date. I met up with a friend, Nanette, from our birthing class and I got to meet her beautiful daughter, Skylar. What a cutie she is! Turns out both of them like Starbucks, letting their sleep deprived mommys get some well needed caffeine. Both of them were the picture of perfect babies. You never know how much time Sadie will give you at these places! I am a pro at sucking down a grande coffee in no time. Notice Sadie's favorite binky- big ol' thanks to Lauren for discovering the only pacifier she will take- it has a beanie baby horse attached to it, she loves this thing. This contributed greatly to Sadie's enjoyment of Starbucks!

It seems like our little Spud really wants to communicate with us and talk to us,  its so adorable to watch. Her most verbal times are on the changing table while I am changing her for some reason. So here's a cute video of her "communicating" with us. :)

Oh what the heck, I can't help myself, here are two other pictures..... Sad Spud and Happy Spud! She is adorable with that pout! Am I a bad mom for taking the picture of her as she is about to let out a good cry?!

Meet little Spud Monkey

Life is pretty good right now! Meet Sadie, or our little Spud Monkey. Don't ask me how that got started, all I know is that John coined the term, and it seemed to fit her! So, it stuck. Along with many other nicknames that pop up daily. I probably should start using her actual name more though, just in case she starts thinking we named her Spud Monkey.  She is the sweetest,  funniest, most adorable girl on the planet, not that we are biased or anything. She also has her fiery side, courtesy of all that Irish and Italian in her! John will have his hands full with 2 fiery girls. :) Babies take up a lot of time I am learning, hence this blog entry taking me 2 months to write! Yup, she is already 2 months old, and changing daily. Right now we are loving the smiles and coo's she loves to amuse us with. They are much better than the colicky period we went through in the beginning! She really is becoming this little person with her own little personality, its amazing to see.  Like her mom and dad, she is enjoying her walks around town, frequent stops for coffee or bubble tea, listening to Eddie Vedder during car rides and dancing around to the Juno soundtrack with mom. Sleep isn't high on her list of priorities, she would much rather play and be entertained. Luckily however, she is snoozing peacefully in her baby sling right now, letting me finally make a first post.

Hopefully we will add pics and videos to the blog often, so check back!

Also, I am just catching up on Lost- what an ending, how can I wait so long for the next season!??
